Julane Lund as an Educator: In addition to her work as a performing musician and the various music degrees she has obtained in the U.S. and Norway, Julane has a K-12 music education degree from Ball State University, and she is licensed to teach in the state of Indiana. For over 20 years she has taught students of all ages, from preschoolers to university level students. She has taught at Indiana State University, Telemark University College in Norway (private lessons and lectures), Foxhill Elementary School in Indianapolis, Peace Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten in Greencastle, Indiana, The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, and various other universities and schools in the U.S. and Norway. The following are some avenues in which Julane currently teaches:
Private Lessons:
Private Lessons are given to students ranging from children 5 years of age through university level. Lessons are given in violin, viola, fiddling, Norwegian Hardanger fiddle, piano, and voice. Classical, Celtic, Rock and Roll, American, and Scandinavian styles are some genres that Julane currently teaches. Lessons are given at studio 205 in the Art Sanctuary, 190 N. Sycamore Street, Martinsville, Indiana. Most students have a half hour lesson, but longer lessons are also available. Please call for more information at (317) 831-1147.
Master Classes for High School and University Students:
Topics range from violin technique to ethnic fiddling. The most popular topic Julane is asked to speak about and demonstrate involves Norwegian traditional music and the cultural context of the music and techniques employed by folk musicians in Norway. Students are active participants in master classes.
Programs for Elementary Students and Daycare Providers:
Julane meets with beginning strings students and general music students in elementary schools as well as children in daycare settings to explore fun aspects of music making.Topics vary from a general introduction of musical instruments, to discussing music in different parts of the world. Julane has a number of instruments from various world areas that she demonstrates to children. Young children are asked to participate through music making, dancing, and games.
